All of our teachers have had background checks performed and participate in ongoing childcare training. As a licensed child care provider, we are regularly and rigorously inspected by the Pinellas County Licensing Board and the Pinellas County Health Department.
Ms. Susie has known from the time she was young that she wanted to work with young children, she started babysitting when she was 11. She has been a preschool teacher since 1987 and a Director since 2001, and the Owner/Director of her namesake, Ms. Susie’s Learning Center, since September 2002. Teaching has always been her first love and she likes to be a “hand’s on” Director. Every week she is in every classroom of her preschool. She personally knows all the children, and strives to nurture an open and positive relationship with their parents as well. Being a parent herself, she knows firsthand about the challenges of being a parent today.
Ms. Susie strives for a smoothly functioning preschool. The school is always stocked up on needed supplies and learning tools. Cleanliness is a top priority, and she employs excellent staff with minimal turn over. In addition, the school has great inspection records.
Ms. Kathy, our long time two year old teacher, retired in April 2014, but she will be back from time to time as a guest teacher. In the meantime, she’ll be travelling, going on cruises with her hubby, and generally enjoying her retirement with her family.
Ms. Kathy started babysitting at age 11, and has been with us since Ms. Susie’s opened in 2002. She has been a preschool teacher since 1992, earned her CDA in 1996 and earned her Director’s credentials in 2003. Her two sons are grown and have successful careers of their own. She also has four grandchildren. She walks or cycles daily.
Ms. Kathy has a calm, gentle approach that emphasizes consistency and redirection.
Ms. Cindy was a busy, devoted, Stay At Home Mother for many years, volunteering with her children’s schools, activities and in the community. She has lived all over the country, travelling to support her husband’s career. A native Floridian, Ms. Cindy is very glad to be back. You can find her visiting with her friends from high school, or at the beach with her dogs. Even though she possesses a medical coding and billing diploma, she chooses to work with pre-schoolers. Ms. Cindy came on board at Ms. Susie’s in February 2014 and loves working with children. Her position here suits her youthful, high-energy, hands-on style
Ms. Nicole is Ms. Susie’s Assistant Director and has worked with her for a total of four years. She has earned her Child Development Associate and her Director’s Certificate. She has always worked with children. She is the two and three year olds lead teacher, but enjoys supporting the other teachers whenever and wherever needed. Providing consistency and continuity is Ms. Nicole’s strong suit.
Ms. Linda switched careers out of a busy, successful corporate marketing path to pursue her lifelong love of nurturing preschoolers. Always active in her own community, Ms. Linda volunteered with her daughter’s Brownie and Girl Scout troops, her local recreation center, and a nearby hospital. She enjoys nurturing her preschoolers through hand play (“Itsy, Bitsy Spider”) and finger puppets. She also teaches social skills, and reads aloud to them daily. She takes them outside in their very own, adjacent, play area a few times a day.
After graduating with honors from USF, Ms. Angie taught second grade for 10 years for Pinellas County Schools. After being a Stay at Home Mom for eight years, she volunteered at Ms. Susie’s last year and worked her way into a paying position. Ms. Angie loves working with the three and four year olds, preparing them for later academic success. She uses her prior teaching experience daily.
